These are the core beliefs that I choose to practice with:
Flexibility: Each client is unique and therapy needs to be tailored to the individual. I do not have any preexisting ideas of what our therapy should look like or how it should go. We figure that out together.
Comfort: It is a must that you like, trust and feel connected to your therapist. I am a compassionate and empathetic person and my approach is very informal and relaxed. It is critical to me that you know you can be yourself when you are with me - no judgment, no rules, no expectations. That being said, I believe this bond is so important that if we discover that I am not the right therapist for you, I will happily refer you to a trusted colleague to ensure you receive the care you need.
Respect: Even though you or your child have come to me amidst struggles, you are the expert on yourself and your life and I will always respect that. I will help you find and utilize your many existing strengths to cope with and overcome your difficulties.
Resolution: I want you to find relief and change quickly. I use a solution-focused approach, meaning I work to help you find resolutions for your problems and our therapy will stay focused on the problems at hand. My therapy focuses on the present and helping you move forward into your future in a healthy manner. You will be involved in creating treatment goals and you will always understand how our therapy sessions work towards meeting these goals.
