Teens
Teenagers have mastered some of their childhood struggles, but are facing a whole new set of challenges related to peer influence and acceptance, gaining independence, and defining their sense of self.
Often teenagers find it difficult to be completely open and honest with their parents. Having an adult who is not an authority figure to talk to can be helpful for them to work through their problems. I provide a safe environment, free of house rules and consequences, where they can be truly honest. I will teach new skills and coping strategies and provide practice opportunities for them to master these new techniques. I will also challenge the behaviors and thought patterns that may be the cause of their current struggles. |
